Major Bowman Terrace was named after Major Francis Bowman, George Rogers Clark’s second in command and the first Magistrate of the City of Vincennes. This site, located at Jefferson and Minneapolis streets, consists of 16 one-bedroom units, 56 two-bedroom units, and 11 three-bedroom units. The residents have access to a Recreation Center for meetings, dinners, and other community affairs. Major Bowman Terrace was constructed in 1937 and is the oldest existing Public Housing site in the state.

When your application is complete, call us to schedule an application appointment. We do not accept applications via mail. Background checks are required.

At your appointment, we’ll discuss your application and let you know of anything else required for eligibility. Placement can take between six months to a year. 

YOU SHOULD KNOW

We have a no smoking rule in accordance with HUD guidelines. You must be 25 feet from all VHA property to smoke. There is no smoking allowed in any of our apartments. We allow pets with a pet policy and pet deposit. Our pet deposit is $100 for elderly and $200 for family. Only one pet allowed per household, and the pet must be under 25 pounds at full growth. No reptiles, including snakes, spiders, or poisonous pets, are allowed. No pit bulls are allowed on any of our properties.
